Once the excitement of the engagement settles down, the search is ON for the perfect place to tie the knot! There’s a lot of different factors to consider when selecting a venue in order to make sure the location can support the kind of event you’re hoping to execute. If you have no idea where to begin or what questions to ask, we’re here to help push you in the right direction.
First, come up with a guest list
So, what does a guest list have to do with choosing a venue anyway? Believe it or not, that could be THE deciding factor! When it comes to the venue, certain locations only support parties of certain sizes. Depending on your guest list, the venue might be too large or too small to properly support what you and your guests need in terms of space and resources. With all of that in mind, we recommend starting with a rough idea of your guest count to guide your venue options!
Second, figure out your budget!
This one mostly speaks for itself, but a budget is a HUGE factor to take into consideration when selecting your venue. A large part of your budget will be dedicated to the venue, so it is important to make sure that you find something that you can afford, but also still love. And don’t forget, a smaller budget doesn’t necessarily mean limited options! There are many venues out there that fit smaller budgets, you just have to look for which one stands out to you the most! An important thing to also keep in mind is that many venues offer a variety of spaces for wedding ceremonies and receptions that vary in pricing. So don’t cut a venue out of the running before you evaluate your options!
Lastly, reach out to the venue coordinators and schedule a tour!
Think of it like searching for an apartment— you wouldn’t want to live somewhere that you’ve never experienced in person before. Plus, you want to be as comfortable and familiar in the space as possible! Taking a tour of the venue doesn’t only give you an idea of the “look”, but also gives you the opportunity to ask questions about the policies, capabilities, and amenities in the venue.
