So someone has asked you to be their Maid of Honor? While it is such a, well, honor (haha) it can feel intimidating to be one of the people who will help make the entire bridal experience special. If you’re not sure what to expect or where to start when accepting someone’s request for you to be their Maid of Honor, we are here to help you! Here is our Maid of Honor 101 guide!

The number one role for a Maid of Honor: support the Bride!

Planning and preparing for a wedding is one of the most exciting but also one of the most stressful experiences! It is a very important day for the couple and a lot of pressure is put on that day for it to be as perfect and memorable as possible. Your job as the Maid of Honor is to be the bride’s support system through it all! Whether they need help calming down from a stressful day of choosing wedding themes, or someone to accompany them to the dress shop, you can be by the bride’s side to bring as much positivity and love to the experience as possible!

The fun part… Wedding dress shopping!

This can be a super emotional day for a bride. She will likely have a group of people with her while she tries on different gowns, and you will probably be one of them! Help her pick out dresses to try, encourage her, and tell her how fabulous she looks! She wants to feel confident when she wears the dress she says “yes” to, so be sure to hype her up!

Oversee the bridal party

There are a lot of factors that go into a bridal party, and you as the Maid of Honor can take some of that stress away from the bride. Make sure the bridesmaids order their dresses in time, make sure everyone is getting along, and best of all, plan the bachelorette party!

PARTY TIME: Plan the bachelorette party!

The bachelorette party is another one of the big milestones for wedding planning. Think about what the bride enjoys doing and where she enjoys going. Make this a night where she can have fun with her friends and celebrate the bride to be!

Yep, you guessed it: the toast

The toast can be daunting to write, because there's often so much to say but the words escape when it comes to writing it down into the best speech ever. It may be a little nerve-wracking, but you’ve got this. The bride chose you as her Maid of Honor because of the special role you hold in her life, so start there and the rest will come!
